Nathan uses the knowledge he has gained from fostering, adoption, supporting his own autistic children, and his role as an independent panel member to create a growing collection of free training courses for parents, carers, and professionals. His work is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: the more we, as adults, learn and understand, the safer, kinder, and more supported a young person’s journey can be.

Nathan also works alongside other experienced professionals from across the social care sector to help develop and create informative, practical training packages. By combining lived experience with professional expertise, these courses are designed to offer meaningful guidance, real understanding, and accessible support for those caring for and working with children and young people.

The training is built around modern, 21st-century fostering and social care experiences, recognising that many traditional training programmes are not always fully up to date with the challenges and realities young people and carers face today. By drawing on current issues within society, lived experiences, and evolving best practices, Nathan aims to provide a more relevant, relatable, and forward-thinking approach to learning and support.

At the heart of this work is connection. Many of Nathan’s children’s books are carefully linked to his training courses, creating a bridge between learning and lived experience. His stories are more than just stories; they are gentle tools that help open doors to conversations that can often feel too big, too complex, or too overwhelming for children to express. Through them, barriers begin to soften, trust begins to grow, and young people are given a voice.

To keep this work alive and growing, Nathan has begun developing a range of enhanced learning courses that will be offered as paid content. This step is not about limiting access, but about sustaining impact. The cost of illustrators, book printing, and building and maintaining an online academy continues to grow, and Nathan currently self-funds every project.

By introducing a small selection of paid courses, it becomes possible to continue offering free resources to those who need them most, while also expanding the reach and depth of the support available. Every contribution helps create more stories, more learning, and more opportunities for children and the adults around them to feel supported, informed, and empowered.

Because when we invest in understanding, we change futures.
